This natural edge turning measures 13" wide x 6 3/4" high, which is very large for a burl. A burl is a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch. Burls yield a very peculiar and highly figured wood. Because the number of trees that produce burl wood is quite low, the wood is scarce. Tazwood will not jeopardize the health of a tree by cutting a burl off of a living tree.
